Brushing machine for burrs removal from tube bundles

Discover the application, proposed by Fiam, to remove residual burrs in tube bundles in the assembly and metal working sector

Air motor function: brush drive

Advantages of air technology.

One of the main advantages of using an air motor is the possibility of using the motor with a torque close to stalling. This detail should not be underestimated as the same functionality cannot be obtained with an electric motor due to the high risk of short circuits.

Furthermore, compared to an electric motor, the size of an air motor is more compact and, thanks to the sturdiness deriving from an external casing made of stainless steel, its use is suitable for heavy environments.

Customer needs

The application of our customer, manufacturer of steel pipes, highlights the needs in the best way: when the pipes are stacked in bands, they form the so-called tube bundles whose ends have flat surfaces.

These surfaces must be smooth and free from dangerous machining burrs deriving from the cutting operations. The need is therefore to remove these processing burrs to make the handling and storage of the tube bundles in the warehouse safer.

The deburring operation is performed by an operator who, thanks to a brush connected to a powerful air motor, is able to perfectly remove all processing burrs, even the most resistant ones, thanks to the effectiveness of the stall torque provided from air motor.
